The KARA modular line source operates on the 55 Hz - 20 kHz frequency band. Frequency response can be extended up to 32 Hz with the SB18 subwoofer reinforcement.

KARA is an active 2-way loudspeaker comprising two 8 ”LF neodymium loudspeakers mounted in a bass-reflex speaker. The HF section consists of a neodymium motor with a compression chamber of 3 ”diaphragm loaded by a DOSC® waveguide.

The coplanar K configuration of the transducers defines a horizontal polar coverage of 1 10 °, symmetrical with respect to the axis of projection and without side lobes over the entire band of frequency. The combination of a coplanar geometry and the DOSC® waveguide enables the five WST® criteria. The wavefront of a KARA line can be shaped without breaking and without accident up to a maximum of 10 ° per item uploaded.

The KARA loudspeaker is made of premium Baltic birch plywood with mechanical properties and remarkable acoustics. The four-point hanging system allows up to 24 KARA speakers in one line.

The KARA loudspeaker is driven and amplified by the dedicated L-ACOUSTICS LA8 controller which ensures linearization, intelligent protection, and optimization in three operating modes:

• “WIDE BAND” mode when used in main source line or distributed system.

• The “HIGH PASS” mode for proximity reinforcement or downfill of the K1 system.

• The “SEVERE EXTENSION” mode when used with the SB18.

The performance of a KARA loudspeaker depends on the preset used and the configuration chosen.
