The Quad Noise Gate DS404 was designed to the highest specification to complement the DS201 Dual Noise Gate, recognized as carrying the "industry standard" across the world. Recognizing that there are many general trigger applications that require equipment that is simple to use and takes up minimal rack space, Drawmer designed the Noise Gate DS404 Quad using a new and unique "Matching Program" circuit. . This makes the DS404 ideally suited for use on a wide range of input signals, ranging from drums and other percussion instruments through to vocals, pianos and even full mixes. The facilities available on the DS404 include:
Quad door: Four channels of DS201 quality noise doors.
Frequency Sensitive: The provision of variable low-pass and high-pass filters allows for "no compromise" frequency selective triggering. The unit can be activated for both internal or external key sources and the Installation Monitor button allows monitoring of the filter setting. Hard / Soft Elimination: Each DS404 channel can be used as a hard or soft barrier, offering very high characteristics. different. Two colored LED clearly indicate the mode status. In hard mode the DS404 offers super-fast response time, stable triggering with complete freedom of chatter around threshold and a specialized press contour that is perfectly suited to drums and other percussion gear. In SOFT mode the DS404 becomes a versatile extension capable of handling vocals and under mixes. Drawmer's unique 'Adaptive Program' circuitry is used to optimize attack time and ratio as well to have some effect on manual trigger setting. A smoother release characteristic is used to complement the SOFT gate. Threshold: A fully variable threshold control provides a range of +20 dB to -70 dB. Output control: A fully variable version control is provided with turn times. 10 ms to 5 seconds so that critical envelope control is not sacrificed in exchange for saving rack space.
Attenuation Range: The DS404 features switchable attenuation between 90dB and 20dB to allow applications where full mute is not desired.
Link Chain: Operation of the LINK command switches the channel to SLAVE operating right, where its mode trigger, threshold and envelope characteristics are controlled by the MASTER (left) channel. All three adjacent channels or two stereo pairs can be linked this way for use in any conceivable situation where tying may be required.
LED Displays: Drawmer's familiar tri-color LED display is once again used as the optimal method of indicating the state of the envelope for each channel.
Input / Output: The DS404 is supplied with balanced XLR inputs and outputs.
