The Yamaha Rio1608-D2 offers remote inputs and outputs. With a 3U height, it is designed for rack installation and intended to work alongside QL and CL mixing consoles. Featuring 16 balanced analog inputs and 8 balanced outputs, all on XLR, the Rio1608-D2 can be used as a stage box to reduce cable usage going to the mixing console. Similarly, it can be installed in a studio recording room with just a single DANTE network cable for connection to the control room console. The DANTE network protocol allows exceptional installation flexibility as multiple Rio interfaces can be connected to QL mixing consoles to increase the number of input/output connections.

The Rio1608-D2 supports sample rates of 44.1kHz, 48kHz, 88.2kHz, and 96kHz, as do all The Rio racks. The continuity of audio levels transmitted when connecting multiple mixing consoles to a single Rio1608-D2 is ensured thanks to the digital gain compensation function, which automatically adjusts for analog gain settings in the digital stage. Controls can be performed via the R Remote application for Mac OS X, so a QL console is not required for its use.
